FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Do I Join A Community Group?

We encourage those that call Calvary Northside home, to join us at one of our two Group Launch Events (one in the spring and one in the fall) to join a group. If for some reason you were unable to join us at one of our launches, email us at community@ccnorthside.com to figure out the best next step!

How Do I Lead a Community Group?

We do not assign leaders for Community Groups. Rather, through our Community Launch events, we have a “self selection” process amongst those seated at the specific tables. The 2nd night of the Community Launch event, we will ask each group to self-select 2 facilitators from their table. In order to facilitate and guide a group, you must attend Calvary Northside regularly and come to the Community Launch events.

What Content Will the Community Groups be Covering?

While there are ENDLESS amounts of good content out there for followers of Jesus, we believe that repetition is the mother of mental ownership. In saying that, we provide and encourage our Community Groups to begin with our Sermon Based Application Questions. These questions will allow our Church Family to not only have a simple format to come back to each week, but also a way to REVISIT and AIM TO APPLY what it is they heard from God at our Weekend Gathering.

Do You Offer Co-Ed Groups?

We will have the option for married groups to join a Community Group together with other married couples, as this is a vital part of healthy community. Key word. Married. We do not offer Co-Ed unmarried groups. While we are believers in the CHURCH FAMILY (brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers), we know that unseen obstacles and limiting factors can be present when unmarried co-ed groups form (i.e. inability to be fully open/honest on particular topics). Just like Jesus’ story had Mary with Martha, and James with John, we believe that groups can go further and deeper in the unmarried arena with same-gender groupings.

How Does a Typical Community Group Gathering Go?

We want to encourage each Community Group to make it their own! Some may want to start with a meal, while others may want to meet early morning over coffee. In saying that, Northside’s suggested outline for fellowship and study is 90 minutes.
The suggested outline looks something like this:
- Gather and Settle In (5 minutes)
- What is one thing you are thankful for this past week? (15 minutes)
- What is one thing that has been stressing you this past week? (15 minutes)
- Pray for Things Mentioned (5 minutes)
- Discuss Sermon Based Questions Provided by our Community Team each week. (30 minutes)
- Based On The Discussion, What Do I Need to Apply This Week? (15 minutes)
- Pray (5 minutes)
What you do before, or after, is totally up to YOUR Community Group! Watch a movie, go for a group walk, or link up with another Community Group. ENJOY BEING IN COMMUNITY!
